While out grocery shopping, meek, middle-aged Samuel Smith and family pet Rover are run over by a speeding car. Fortunately for them, an ambulance shows up right away. Unfortunately for them, the ambulance attendant mistakenly treats Sam with dog plasma and Rover with human plasma. Both immediately recover - after which Sam starts erupting into bouts of dog-like behavior and Rover begins walking and talking like a human being, much to the consternation of the people around them, especially Sam's wife, Margaret.

A young city girl from a poor family is invited to spend the summer at a camp for girls from wealthy families. At first made fun of and ridiculed because of her background, she determines to show the snooty rich girls she's just as good as they are.

The mangiest pup at Pete's Pooch Palace catches the Captain's eye. He takes it home, but Mama is less than thrilled; she forbids it to stay in the house. The Captain pretends to put it out, but hides it under his coat. At the dinner table, though, it is soon exposed. Confined to the back yard, the dog howls the night away. The Captain is sent outside to quiet it, but is too tired to make it out the door. He finally gets there and sneaks the dog back inside to his own bed.

When Pip returns home with her teleporting sisters to scatter their mother's ashes, the three begin to realise that real strength isn't about special powers.
